Look Good on Camera

About us

Who am I?

bobjphoto.jpg

My name is Bob Jones and I have been photographing people on a serious basis since 1996, when I obtained my first qualification in portrait photography. Photographing people is very enjoyable, but as a professional people person, helping individuals gain self-confidence in front of the camera gives me even greater satisfaction. There is nothing like working with someone to produce images that convince them that they can control how they appear in photographs and become far more photogenic.

What You Can Expect

A comfortable, friendly, and professional working relationship: if you are going to look good on camera then you need to feel completely at ease with your photographer and your surroundings.

Complete confidentiality, in terms of anything we discuss, any information you provide, and the photographs we take. Knowing that you can trust your photographer is fundamental to establishing the rapport we will need to work together.

An honest opinion on what works for you and what does not: I will offer you suggestions and opinions, but those opinions are for your consideration. I am here to guide and coach, not to dictate to you what you must do. You can be photographed however you want, wearing whatever you want with whatever make-up and hairstyle you want. To look good, you need to believe in what works for you and have the confidence and techniques to produce it for the camera.

I do not accept that there is such a thing as an ordinary person. Everyone is special, but not everyone presents themselves in their best light. By addressing your fears and insecurities you can turn your body language and facial expression into a positive force that works for you in enhancing your physical image and presence. Once you are comfortable in front of the camera you will start getting the best out of yourself and have fun while you are doing so.

Client Confidentiality

You can rest assured that we will keep your images securely, destroy any images that you do not wish us to store, and keep your identity as a client completely confidential. We guard our clients’ identities and reveal them to no-one. Even the fact that you have made an enquiry is subject to the same rules of confidentiality.

Similarly any information about a corporate client’s staff, the company’s operations, products etc is treated with the utmost security and confidentiality.

Client Security

If you are going to invite someone into your home, or indeed visit their home or studio, then you should think about your personal security. This is particularly so when the contact you have made has been through the net or email. ?I am therefore only too pleased to provide clients with references and verifiable information about me.

How did Look Good on Camera Start?

I came across the idea, of helping people to look good in front of the camera, completely by accident. One day I was asked by a family friend to help her with some uncertainties that she had about being photographed at her forthcoming wedding. So I agreed to spend an hour or two rehearsing her in the art of posing for the camera.

What Happened Next?

The photo-shoot was very low key. As it happened the weather was good so we started taking photographs in the garden. After ten minutes or so we returned to the house to view the images on computer. From this we could see some of the issues that needed working on. We went back outside and spent most of the afternoon taking photographs, returning to the computer every ten to fifteen minutes or so. In this way we built up a picture of what worked for her and what she should avoid. The results really surprised me. I could not believe the transformation that we achieved. She was delighted and took her new photogenic self away with renewed confidence. Her wedding photographs were a great success and she was keen to tell all her friends about out photo session, which brought more requests and more photo-shoots.

And Now?

Having photographed a few more brides and grooms to be, and other hesitant subjects, I am convinced that anyone can learn to be photogenic. Improving people’s confidence in how they look, and helping them getting to know what works best for them, is hugely satisfying. Digital photography has allowed me to develop these methods, and believe me, they really do work.

Thanks
